This piece has been such an exciting little project for me and I’m so excited to share it now with you as a masterclass.
 
Starting off with the background, I share a variety of techniques and tools to create a soft, out of focus look which creates so much depth to the subject.
 
We then start to block in the main shapes and key elements which build the structure of the horse, gently building up layers for depth and contrast for a photorealistic finish.
 
I incorporate charcoal during this class which is optional and I will give suggestions throughout for graphite alternatives.
