Recently I have been working a lot with charcoal on toned paper. I had a lot of requests to share the methods and techniques I use to create this style of portrait so I thought I would create a class in this style. 
 
Working on a toned paper allows us to just focus on the values, creating dark and light areas to bring the pice to life. I use a pop of white here and there to really add dimension and a variety of techniques to create realism.
